Write Topic: Macbeth, along with many of his other plays, was published after his death with the help of his fellow actors and co-owners of the King’s men. These publications were worth a lot more money after his death (modern terms: $150-180 per publication) rather than about $5 when he was alive. The book also states that Shakespeare never really meant for his plays to be published and read – but rather acted out as performances. Having read Macbeth, do you think Shakespeare really wanted Macbeth to be read and discussed as we did in class? What language/style of presentation do you imagine Shakespeare would’ve wanted instead?
