Write an analysis of the two articles you select.
The examples below are only to help you consider the content of the your analysis:
Summary of the pertinent points of the article which includes how the author(s) obtained the article information (did they conduct the study, did they review the literature, is it their opinion?)
Strengths and Weakness of the article (is it objective, was it a research study, did the author(s) have a good amount of participants, who funded the study or the article, was it too narrow or too broad, was it informative, did it contradict other information you have learned, etc.?)
Critique (does the article contribute to the social work knowledge base of tobacco or caffeine as a substance of abuse, does the information fit with social work values and ethics, does the information further your professional knowledge, what are the implications for social workers?)
Include the reference for the article (APA style) at the end of your post.
Avoid reference to personal or professional experiences in your analysis. Focus closely on the information presented in the article about the specific topic or field.
Your analysis should generally be a summary, and should rarely paraphrase or quote the sources (takes up space). Your original post should be between 300-500 words (~one page).
Use headings, sub headings (if needed), and paragraphs. Paragraphs, headings and subheadings are an important usability and accessibility strategy to help readers both determine the overall outline of your document, and navigate to specific information on the page.
How to earn an A on this assignment:
When I read/score your discussion (and classmate responses), I am looking for you to demonstrate:
1. Critical thinking
2. Clinical judgment
3. The application of evidence-based practice
4. The application of practice-based evidence
5. The ability to assimilate complex information and distill that information into a logical, measured response
When I ask you to demonstrate critical thinking, clinical judgment, the application of evidence-based practice, or the application of practice-based evidence, I am asking you to go beyond the surface. Go beyond the peripheral. When you read someone’s writing, you can tell if they are giving a hurried opinion or if they are giving a well thought-out, considered opinion.
