The biopsychosocial, or multipath approach, is an important model from which to understand any behavioral or mental disorder. Its use requires that one considers possible biological (e.g. genes, brain function), psychological (e.g. thoughts, beliefs, attachments) and social (e.g. friends, family culture or social learning or support) factors in trying to understand the disorder.
