Write a Personal Motivation Essay The organizer assignment is used to support this assignment. You will be writing a personal essay that does NOT follow the typical five paragraph structure. It is crucial that you follow the organizer very accurately. More directions are explained below. The personal essay you read called ″The Step Not Taken″ should serve as a little inspiration for the writing style. Your essay needs to be personal – so, yes, you are writing in first person. It will also be chronological as you are telling a time based story. Here is the question / topic: In an essay, describe a moment in your life that lead to inspiration and motivation to achieve something big. What is /was your goal / dream and what was that exact moment in time when you said “today is the day I am going to make this happen”? It could be something that you have completed already, or it could be something that you are in the process of trying to achieve. (Chances are you are in the process of trying to achieve something big right now as you are in school – most likely as a step toward that goal) ***Your thesis will be one sentence that states the goal you have set and the exact moment you decided to make it a reality. Using a complex sentence would be effective. You can easily introduce the moment of inspiration first, and then the goal. As an example: After _________, I decided I would ______________. FOLLOW THE ORGANIZER. This is crucial. It is very detailed for you. The structure is VERY specific. You can add paragraphs if need be, but he general construction must follow that provided in your organizer. Your essay hinges AROUND the thesis. There are things that came before that moment and there are things that have happened after that moment. Narrative writing uses time and chronological order to help tell the story. The paragraphs before the thesis indicate the challenge(s) and reasons that lead to your goal. After your thesis, you will be talking about the actions you have taken to make that goal a reality.
