Part I.     You are the manager of a clinical laboratory in a small hospital and your administrator tasked you to search for a new laboratory information system (LIS) for your facility. Your laboratory has all the major areas of the laboratory including core lab (chemistry, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis), microbiology, blood banking, waived point of care testing, and rapid serological tests.

1.      Read the provided examples request for proposal (Example of a RFP for LIS & 1.3Request_for_Proposal).

2.      Use provided LIS comparison tool from CAPToday website (11-20_CAPTODAY_LIS) to find three LIS systems that you would like to send requests for proposal (RFP).

3.      Write a paper detailing the features needed for your lab’s LIS (as described above) and elaborate on the three LIS systems selected utilizing the CAP LIS System comparison Tool for consideration and to be sent an RFP.

Part II.     Read lectures on LIS implementation and validation (Lecture_Implementation & Lecture_Validation).

1. Write a paper detailing the steps in your Implementation Plan for a new LIS system for your Lab.

2. Of the 3 pages, one page is to be a Validation plan for 2 functions of your Blood Bank or ClinLab portion of the new LIS System.
