Write a letter to Judge Richard Salas about enforcing a court-ordered rehabilitation program for Mr. Raymond Owens who is a 33 y/o male who is struggling with heroin addiction. Emphasize to the judge the harsh, negative, and psychological effects that this type of trauma and drug use has on a person when treatment is not enforced. Explain to the judge that Mr. Owens has been addicted to different types of drugs for more than 15 yr, his parents were not aware of the abuse until he was 23 y/o, his twin brother told their parents, both brothers were abused, and both diagnosed with selective mutism at the age of 3 y/o. In 2006, Mr. Owen’s last year of high school he began experimenting with alcohol and several types of drugs. By 2007, Mr. Owens joined the United States Army, he served 8 months before being given a less than honorable discharge due to his drug use and possession. In 2008, Mr. Owens’s depression and drug use became more apparent and out of control, he started getting himself in trouble with the law for petty crimes and misdemeanors which lead him to serve 6 months in jail. Fast forward to 2015, Mr. Owens’s girlfriend at the time became pregnant they were expecting a baby girl, he was ecstatic and looking forward to raising his daughter. Mr. Owens began to make many changes in his life so that he could provide and be a great father to his daughter. Mr. Owens’s signed up and completed the CDL program and stopped using drugs and alcohol because he wanted to be a great example for his daughter. Mr. Owens’s complete downward spiral took place when unbeknownst to him and his family Raymond’s baby-mother put their daughter up for adoption and he never got the opportunity to hold or hug his child. PLEASE PLEAD with the judge to put into place and enforce a court-ordered long-term drug treatment program for Mr. Owens preferably out of the state that he lives.
