The Discussion is an online journal that publishes academic insights into the arts, education, business, politics, science and the environment. As an expert in the field of English, you’ve been asked to contribute an article for this month’s issue, entitled “The Future is Now”. Your feature article should examine how speculative narratives use imagined worlds to comment and reflect on their own contexts. The editors would like your article to examine The Handmaid’s Tale and V for Vendetta, evaluating how each builds a fictional world to comment upon the author’s reality. The article should explore how language and the conventions of narrative are crafted in each text to critique social, cultural and historical values of its time. An integral element of your multimodal text is its visual representation. You should use features such as a header image, creative and conceptual title, images with captions, subheadings, hyperlinks and italicised text, and embed your video presentation. Consider using web templates such as Weebly, Wix, Sway or WordPress to create your digital text, however, you are not limited to these suggestions.
