Do you think people have free will and can choose who they will be and what they will do in life? Do you think a higher power determines what happens to people in their lives? Do you think one’s personality is determined more by nature (biology, genetics, etc.) or by nurture (environment, parenting, and social experiences)? When you consider people who have a mental illness or other coping problems that bring them to counselors, what are your thoughts about how these problems developed? What do you think are the respective roles of nature and nurture in the ways that people develop problems? What do you think are the most effective ways to help someone who might come to you with a mental illness or other significant life problem? What do people need to do in order to change destructive behavior patterns? In order to address all parts of the question, you might want to organize your essay into three subheadings:Beliefs About Human NatureHow People Develop Problems in Their LivesBest Ways to Help People With Their Problems (or How People Can Change Their Lives)You are not required to organize your essay this way, but the outline might assist you in covering all required ideas. No sources needed
