That narrative is egregiously erroneous, simplistic, and far off from what the archeological evidence tells us. The remoteness of Rapa Nui has contributed to the rise of a unique society that broke away from its past traditions, developed its own unique culture and language, was predominantly peaceful, flourished economically and was self-reliant.
