Ormond Pediatrics was my internship location. I started on May 18th and ended on June 4th with a total of 106 hours. Between verifying insurances, referrals, billing, and more, I had gained experience while being there. The relevance is from being able to learn the administrative side of healthcare. COVID-19 has caused an undeniable psychological and physiological implication to children worldwide. This research has incorporated a quantitative review of secondary sources from peer-reviewed sources. Having the opportunity to do my internship at a children’s doctor’s office, I get to experience children having the long-term effects of COVID-19. We see that children test positive for COVID-19 every day and the health risks it causes them. There has been a lot of relevance between my internship and the curriculum due to the health care laws and regulations that we have to follow as well.*****Presentation #2Title: Using wellness programs to manage burnout in surgical residents.Presenter: 2 The abstract is based on a B.A.S Health Services Administration Capstone supervised project. Objectives: The goal of the study is to determine what wellness initiatives can be implemented to the UF Plastic Surgery residency program to address and reduce burnout. Research Question: What actions can the University of Florida Plastic and Reconstruction Surgery Program Director make to improve resident wellbeing and decrease burnout? Background: Burnout is a state of physical, emotional, and mental exhaustion; caused by work-related stress. Burnout leads to emotional fatigue, anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, medical errors, and decreased patient satisfaction. Methodology: The Program Director and I will meet with 7 residents to discuss the Plastic Surgery Residency program. Our interviews will include open-ended questions in eight categories: didactics, clinical education, mentoring, wellness, call, work environment, and communication. Once the data is compiled, we will discuss any common themes to come up with a plan to implement changes.*****Presentation #3Title: Why eye clinics are extremely important
