Learn about Governments’ effort to gain economic prosperity and global influence. 2. Investigate, compare & contrast the Chinese and American economies. 3 Observe cultural differences and learn how cultures can be impacted by global expansions. Rules: Address the points below in essay format. Write your analysis in sections and use the suggested headings for each section listed below. Your assignment should be 6-8 pages double spaced (not counting title, reference pages or appendix). You must use proper grammar and proof read your paper. Use Times New Roman 12 point font, 1” margins all around. Case for analysis: China’s Belt and Road Initiative (formerly known as Silk Road). There were a number of films released over the last decade via Youtube. You are more than welcome and encouraged to look into other clips to gain a better understanding. Seek citable sources that may help to support arguments and claims. Much has been written and published on this film. Please be careful with how you use the material. Copy and paste can flag your paper on the similarity index and it is best to restate sources with your own words and cite accordingly. Please avoid large sections of quotes as they take away from the originality of your work. Follow this outline by using the section headings below and address every point! Belt Road Initiative (BRI): Describe the BRI! What is it? Use basic and interesting facts! Use professional detail as if you were to explain it to one of your siblings or parents. Provide sufficient detail to create context. Use business relevant facts and statistics to paint a picture for the reader. (10 points) Environment: Describe the Chinese economy by using business and economic indicators. Provide sufficient facts for anyone to understand its economic base (Economic facts, numbers, and percentages, indexes such as Econ. Freedom etc.) See the early chapters of your text for what are relevant indicators). (20 points) BRI Motivators: State two major motivators for the Chinese Government to revive the Silk Road or BRI mentioned in the documentary. Offer detail and back up with additional literature if necessary. (10 points). Global Expansion: Explain the term Debt Trap Diplomacy! What is it and how is it implemented in the pursuit of expansion? (10 points) Consumers: Name 5 countries impacted by the BRI! Use Pakistan as an example to describe how consumers will be impacted economically, politically, and culturally by the BRI. (20 points). For your cultural discussion, use the Hofstede dimensions to briefly elaborate cultural details between Pakistan and China. (30 points).
