Using the SlaveVoyages database, select either a national flag (ship, nation, owner -> flag) or an African place of purchase (itinerary -> place of purchase -> principal place of purchase). Explore the results using the summary statistics, tables, data visualization, timeline, maps, and time lapse tabs. Use the results to explain how slave trading for the empire or African region you selected changed over time. Explain what these sources reveal about the experience of enslaved people in the Americas. Compare and contrast what you can learn about the enslaved experience from the voyages database with more traditional history sources by engaging at least two class readings. You may download charts and tables from SlaveVoyages as references for your paper or summarize the findings. Charts will not count for or against your required page length.
