Assignment 4: Mobile App Proposal (Start working on this from day 1) In the last two and half years, a new business for mobile applications has been expanding very fast. Currently, there are thousands of Apps for the different mobile platforms. The number of people using smartphones, tablets or iPads is climbing very fast resulting in an extraordinary market for well developed apps. Therefore, global opportunities in this market are huge. Grenada’s economy depends on the development of the tourism industry. However, in latter years, tourism has become heavily dependent on information technology, especially because users have become computer savvy and rely on mobile devices for their access to industry information. This is the reason why we are witnessing how businesses are massively turning to mobile apps to promote their services and reach customers in a more personal way. Grenada’s tourism enterprises have to adapt to this new technological shift and reach their customers in the mobile environment and become active part of their digital lives. In this assignment, you are required to do the initial brainstorming what could be the design, implementation and distribution of a mobile app for Grenada or the Caribbean that you feel has not been addressed yet. Think in a broad sense, from a variety of needs (professional, health and wellness, online learning, logistics, entertainment, security, informational, navigation, mapping, social, etc.), and different population targets (managers, general users, adults, children, teen agers, elderly, etc.) 1.Review the trends in terms of App design and consider advantages and disadvantages, as well as the directions that this field is taken in the immediate future. 2.Describe and analyze the situation or problem that your system will be addressing. Observe the technological challenges involved, but do not be limited by that. Remember that you can use the smartphone sensors of different kinds, which are integrated with iPhones, iPads or Android devices. 3.Propose a solution to the situation or problem in a way that can be understood by investors, sponsoring organizations or governments. Think of the possible users and how they will employ the system. Investigate if there are similar apps available, noticing the available solutions and what you consider their shortcomings. 4.Create a fictional persona using the system and demonstrate the benefits that he/she will get from this mobile application. This is a very important part of the proposal and must be decided in a documented team meeting.
