1. Do you agree with the findings of Rodriguez and Hernandez (2018) that the examined Instagram
accounts maintain and support dominant discourses of masculinity? Do you feel the posting of
overly sexualized photos adds to this discourse? Do you think the women posting the photos
deserve the comments they receive for posting the photo in the first place?
2. In Kahalon et al’s (2019) article, they discuss the Madonna-Whore Dichotomy (MWD). Do you
feel this dichotomy is still being used today? Why or why not?
3. Do you feel that hegemonic masculinity is dangerous to both men and women, to just one
gender, or to no one? Give examples to support your answer.
4. Do you feel Taylor Swift was “slut shammed”?
5. Search the internet for examples of “slut shaming” and share your findings by supplying the link
where you found your example. You can use any example in the media, from a social network
site, or magazine, etc.
