You head into the surf lifesaving clubhouse to find out there’s an emergency meeting in progress to discuss an oil spill that has just occurred in the bay. Several surfers are not concerned – they are claiming that because the oil is liquid, it will just mix with the waves and not be a problem. Others in the group believe that this is a bigger problem and an argument has developed. Your fellow club members know you are studying chemistry and turn to you for an explanation of the chemical aspects of the disaster.Prepare a report for the community to present the important chemical information about the way oil spills behave in water.
