Final Project General Guidelines: I. Overall Goal: To conduct independent research and produce an in-depth written study of a topic related to class readings and discussions that demonstrates critical thinking, analytical skills, and understanding and mastery of the research materials. II. Components: The project consists of the following components: • Final Project Survey • Final Project Proposal • Final Project Draft • Final Project (Narrative, 1500 words) • Final Project (Presentation, 5 minutes) III. Suggestions: • Take inspiration from the class readings and discussions for your paper. • Build upon the writing you have done for other class assignments (such as discussion board postings and take-home assignments) and deepen your research and critical exploration on certain topics or issues. • Develop an overall research question to guide your paper. • Build a collection of research materials that includes both class readings and outside sources. • Locate and incorporate at least three outside sources (for examples, books, articles, production photos, video clips) into your paper to demonstrate your independent research efforts. The first component of the Final Project is already done: Final Project Survey. I am going to send you it because here you can find out the answers to some questions.
Now, I need the Final Project Proposal component, which one has the following instructions: *Double-space your answers. 1. Title and content: What is tentative title of the paper? What is it about? 2. Research question: What is the preliminary research question of your research paper? This can be different types of questions: What? When? How? etc. Also, this is a very important question because it gives us the thesis statement. 3. Thesis statement: What is the preliminary thesis of your research paper? It is the answer to the research questions. 4. Research Materials: What are the research materials you plan to use for your paper? What outside sources have you found that you plan to include in your paper? List the readings as the Works Cited page according to the MLA style. 5. Narrative: Provide a narrative of at least 500 words (about 2 pages) just in this part. It is about your research findings that help you explore answers to your research question and that support your thesis statement. Incorporate the research materials you list into the narrative. Provide in-text citations according to the MLA style.
Also, I am sending you a sample of the Final Project Proposal and the video of “The Drama of Sentiment India. Kutiyattam Sanskrit Theatre”: http://www.unesco.org/archives/multimedia/?pg=33&s=films_details&id=9
and the Bhasa Urubhangam reading about the Indian Theatre.
And remember the instructions where say: Locate and incorporate at least three outside sources (for examples, books, articles, production photos, video clips) into your paper to demonstrate your independent research efforts. I prefer articles or books. Thank you again!!
