Please rewrite this paper using this feedback: First, you were asked to do a Cover Page and then an abstract. An abstract is used to provide the reader with a quick overview of your paper that included your main ideas and key points. You provide a decent abstract. You then needed to provide a good introductory paragraph. Remember, this introductory paragraph is used to catch the reader’s attention, frame your thesis and establish the “roadmap” on how you are going to get there. It also gives you a preview of your conclusion. Instead, you wasted a full page on your section entitled Investigation on Oil Exploration and Extraction in Nigeria.

Second, the main section of your paper needed to be organized into the 7-Major Hazard Categories and appropriately address the relevant risks with your backing cites in each category. As stated above, you appropriate organized your paper but were inconsistent in analyzing the relevant risks in each of the Major Hazzard Categories.

Below are my additional comments regarding the Major Hazard Categories.

• In the Financial Hazard Category, you correctly identified the most important risk in this category, Corruption. You can hardly do any research on Nigeria without coming across the prevalent corruption that rots at the country. Nigeria is one of the most corrupt countries in the world and there are numerous relevant cites on point regarding corruption and the Nigeria oil industry. This risk should also have been used when addressing the Reputation Hazard Category. The next important risk you needed to address in this category, is the risk to Market Conditions. Although you mentioned Market Conditions, your analysis was off. Think about what the fluctuation in oil prices could do to Aggie Energy, since down oil prices can have a devastating impact on a small oil company as opposed to a major company like Shell Oil that can weather the poor market swings.

• In the Legal Hazard Category, you failed to correctly identified Lawsuits as the top risk in this category, where your analysis should have included a multitude of relevant cites pertaining to the numerous lawsuits the current oil companies doing business in Nigeria are facing, or had to settle, regarding oil spills, even though the vast majority were caused by oil bunkering. These lawsuits are not only costing the companies millions of dollars, but adversely effecting these companies’ brands (Reputation), thus making this a high-risk category. The next important risk in this category deals with the Legislation/Laws that foreign corruptions have to negotiate. You then needed to identify and adequately analyze the relevant Nigerian statutes that apply to the oil industry within Nigeria, i.e., The Petroleum Act.

• In the Information, Science and Technology Hazard Category, identify and analyze the risks associated with Patents and Intellectual Property, Corporate Espionage, and Cyber-attacks as it pertains to Aggie Energy operating in the Niger Delta.

• In the Operations Hazard Category, you correctly identified Security as your top risk and did a decent job of addressing the MEND offshoot group, the Niger Delta Avengers, but in this important category your research and analysis should have included the general violent crime in the Niger Delta. This would have included the risks due to the theft of oil (oil bunkering), and the consequences of these thefts have had on the oil pipelines and the environmental. One source you should have cited is the U.S. Department of State Travel Advisory. Besides the instability caused by the violent militant groups (MEND and their offshoot groups), the area has a high rate of violent crimes to include kidnappings, murders, assaults, rapes, etc. In this section, you also needed to also address the risks regarding Supply/Logistics/Nigerian infrastructure, especially as it pertains to the logistics of getting your oil product to the ports and out of the country where the basic infrastructure, from roads, electricity, clean water, etc. is lacking.

• In the Human Capital Hazard Category (Recruiting/Training), you needed to discuss the multitude of risks associated with attempting to hire and retain Nigerian workers and had relevant citations. Also, you needed to also address the risks associated with the recruiting and retention of your own Aggie (USA) employees.

• In your Reputation Hazard Category, this is where you needed to analyze in detail the most important risks in this category, the threat to Aggie’s brand/reputation. With the widespread corruption, lawsuits, et al., you would have had an overabundance of citations to choose from. See the above Legal Category bullet where I discussed the risks to the brands of the oil companies during the numerous lawsuits over the oil spills and environmental damage and allegations of corruption.

• In your Global Category, you did a nice job discussing the risk due to oil theft (Organized Crime) but failed to identify the risk due to Terrorism especially regarding Boko Haram, but again failed to provide any relevant supporting citations. You needed to also address the Niger militant groups (MEND and offshoot) that have caused havoc from piracy, oil bunkering, and kidnappings in the Niger Delta.
