Using the content, activities, and issues covered in class, summarize your personal theology concerning social justice. Then address the following issues: Identify your calling to social justice through your life story. How have your experiences led you to pay attention to certain issues or have special concern for certain kinds of hurt in society. Clarify the biblical basis for social justice in your area(s) of interest. For instance, if you discuss poverty, review the biblical teaching on helping the poor. Do not just cite verses, but explain the issue in terms of the biblical story as described by Hoang and Johnson. Identify your areas of responsibility, circles of influence, and passion. What can you do in your area? What power and influence do you have to make a difference? Think specifically about your work situation( Nursing/Healthcare ), opportunities through your church or faith community, and the possibility of political engagement. Remember the four methods of social action we discussed – arts, direct action, solidarity, and community development (see Lupton Toxic Charity for what community development is). Think through any barriers or challenges to pursuing justice in your life. What might prevent you from making a difference? Something within yourself? Your family? Something in society?
