Assignment Directions
For this assignment, read the information on “Evaluating Health Information” at ( ()http://www.ucsfhealth.org/adult/edu/EvaluatingHealthInfo.html ()) (). Then, pick a health issue that is of interest to you(please ask me if you are having trouble coming up with one on your own). Next, get on the Internet and find the “best” web site or sites you can about that particular health issue. “Best” for any health issue is one that seems to have credible, accurate information. As you review websites, look for the red flags described at the UCSF web site to eliminate poorer quality websites. During your search, also note the two “worst” websites you come across, those with many of the red flags discussed on the UCSF web site.

Once you have found the two “best” web sites and the two “worst” websites, write a 2-3 page paper that includes the following:

Paper Format
Your paper should be typed (10-12 point font), double spaced, and with 1-inch margins. Use MSWORD or save your work as a PDF. Do not submit a WordPerfect or Pages file. Submit your paper as an attachment to the assignment dropbox found in our course site. Please ask me if you have any questions or need any clarification.

Part 1. Introduction (8 points)
In at least one paragraph, explain, generally, the biology of the health issue you selected and why this health issue was of interest to you?

Part 2. “Best” Websites (10 points)
Based on the qualities of a “good” website, give a brief summary of the two-three web sites that meet the qualifications of a “good” source of information. Also, explain why you concluded that these sites were credible and accurate. Be sure to include the websites’ address and title.

Part 3. “Worst” Websites (10 points)
Based on the qualities of a “poor” website, give a brief summary of the two-three web sites that meet the qualifications of a “poor” source of information. Again, explain why you concluded that these sites were not credible and accurate. Be sure to include the websites’ address and title.

Part 4: Conclusion (10 points)
Write a paragraph reflecting on your experience doing this research and assessing credibility. Was it easy or difficult to determine which sites were credible and accurate? Did you come across any sites that were trying to appear credible but failed once you looked at them more closely? Did you learn anything new about the health issue you chose? How many sites do you think you would want to read to really understand this issue?

Please provide specific references to support your introduction. You may use MLA or APA format.
