Describe what I learned about the culture represented through the experience: what was similar to your own culture?, What was different? What cultural values did I notice? How can your CQ help in cross-cultural experiences such as these? How has your awareness of cultures in general or the specific culture represented changed as a result of my experience? I visited my friends house Teresa who was going to prepare some dishes and a drink. when I first entered the house I smell the aroma of onion, it was a bit over barring but she opened the windows and started cooking them, it subsided. Teresa comes from Peru and I am a mixture of Philippine and Central American. We are both spanish, but the dialect is different. Some similar words have different meanings. I saw lots of kids her own, cousins and neighbor kids playing in the backyard, lots of noise but not in a bad way, in an energizing way, lively – which makes it more welcoming to the person i believe. I was surprised by the amount of relatives that came y to visit and stay for dinner. Her family is very united and they all live close by to each other, which shows a strong family support. As the food was coming out , she set the large table. not all were able to sit around the table so some gather chairs and some family members sat on the couch. all in all everyone was eating at the same time. all the dishes where delicious except for one which I really didnt want to even try, heart cooked with some onions and peppers over rice.
