Goal: To analyze and understand your personal perspective. In other words, why you see the world the way you do. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, however, problems arise when two or more people don’t understand the other’s point of view. These misunderstandings can lead to hurt feelings which lead to distrust, anger, and even hate. This cycle CAN be broken when one takes time to reflect on perspective. Feeling empathy for another does take time, which isn’t always popular in our “quick fix” mentality society. No one is completely objective all the time, but we can work toward it by first analyzing ourselves. INSTRUCTION: What to turn in: 1. Say something about Filpino nationality. This usually refers to one’s citizenship. NOT necessarily the same as one’s heritage or ethnicity. 2. Describe Filipinos ETHNICITY or HERITAGE. These words are typically used to refer, to one’s family’s background, which includes traditions, customs, religion, geographic location, etc. 3. Discuss both EDUCATION and their financial status or SOCIA CLASS. 4. What are the BIASES that they hold. (For example: Do you think interracial marriage is strange? Do you tend to snub poor people? Are you uncomfortable with gays? Do you think people from the east coast are rude? Are blondes dumb?) These are just examples. Don’t actually answer these.
