Share any final thoughts inspired by this documentary.video link:https://www.pbs.org/video/touching-the-sound-z6kaz2/additional information: Passions and Inspirations Needs, drives, motivations, passions, inspirations, incentives, are each social constructs which define the biological, physical, social, emotional push which directs toward action or restraint, as viewed in light of society, priorities, manners, availability, or other factors. Each of these factors are interrelated yet unique in each individual, based upon a combination of genetics, hypothalamus, amygdala and other biological factors and social, psychological, religious, cultural and environmental factors; Nature and Nurture. Whether discussing passion of attraction to a person or an activity, when encouraged and supported to ones internal needs, drives and motivations, one may thrive. When one is thwarted, for reasons which are valid or not deemed to be meaningful to the individual, depression, anger, grief, and even self-harm may occur. The accompanying documentary is about a boy, born blind, who has one passion and many inspirations, several of which feeds that passion. His passion is music; specifically playing music; touching other emotionally. Creating music to communicate sorrows and better tomorrows. Most people are not quite to single minded. However, by getting to know Nobuyuki Tsujii from infancy up to his performance at Carnegie Hall, and a bit beyond, one gains a sense of drives and motivations and inspirations and the beauty of understanding another person, even though we are not “in their head.” Too often, one is denied their identity, their attraction, their interest, because the person observing is unable to “picture” or “feel” or “identify” as does the other person. Understanding a person can help us understand that we are not meant to be the same; that difference is okay, that diversity is as it should be; that society benefits. I hope that with the Decades Project, you have made this (re-)discovery, as well.
