Discuss how this museum helps to respond to one of the Key Conceptual Points about Functions of Stereotypes.

Stereotypes reveal more about the stereotypers’ fears, hatreds, values, and relationships (or lack of relationship/exposure to the stereotyped) than the group or person being stereotyped. They do NOT represent a kernel of truth about the group being stereotyped.
Stereotypes simplify a complex world. Stereotypes work to separate and make boundaries between one group and another group. Stereotypes stop any consideration of within-group variety. Stereotypes have real consequences in the everyday life for members of racialized ethnic groups.
Stereotypes are drawn upon and used on a case-by-case basis by individuals within society. Stereotypes are fluid and moldable by individuals to fit the needs of the moment. They are not only sensed visually, but may include all aspects of senses such as smell, auditory, and touch.
4. Stereotypes may be used by society members to explain social inequalities, perceptions about the characteristics of groups rather than focusing on how social systems perpetuate inequality.
5. These images may be internalized by some groups and used by those groups as a strategy to access resources.
