Prompt 1: Based on your research experience, readings, and the assigned articles, Assess the role of statistical significance in the context of educational research. Explain how the issues discussed in the reading impact your area of interest. Propose how you will demonstrate significance in your own research. Response paper should be no more than 4 single-spaced pages. Prompt 2: The objective of this assignment is to assess the replicability and reproducibility of a research paper. Students should read the NSF report on Robust and Reliable research (pdf found on the course website). Students will then choose one of the articles from their literature review and assess the reproducibility of the study. Students should address each of the following areas involved in replicating the methodology including: Accessing the data used or participants involved in the study Using the same instruments found in the study Replicating the analysis shown in the study Students should clearly discuss how they would approach replicating the study along these three dimensions. After addressing these three areas, the student should conclude by discussing how the research design could be modified to make the study more replicable.
