Final paper: how was your (favorite)product made?(75%) We all consume products, services and experiences developed and made by the creative industries on a day-to-day basis. Especially in times of Corona, movies, music, works of art and other creative expressions provide indispensable distraction. At the same time, now more than ever, we are aware of the many cultural expressions (e.g. festivals, going to the movies or theater) we have to miss. But how are such products, services or experiences made? Who makes them? What kind of organizations do they (not) work in? How are they shaped by all kinds of logics, laws and policies? How are such organizations structured around notions of inclusivity, project-based work and material practices? For your final assignment, you will take one of your favorite cultural or creative artefacts (tangible or intangible) and take this as a subject for closer scrutiny. You provide an academically sound and accountable discussion of creative production and the organizational processes shaping such work. This should be contextualized by explicitly making connections to the course’s theoretical concepts and scholarly work as well as current debates and pressing issues in the field of the creative industries.Empirical research (e.g. doing an interview, using secondary data) is encouraged but not mandatory. The paper should be written as an essay, with an introduction, main body and conclusion.
