Blog/Article: Each blog will need to be at least 300 words each. You will need to include at least ONE academic source (textbook, journal article, etc.), and at least ONE link to an additional resource (e.g. website, article, video, blog, etc.) for your readers to explore. Each blog/article entry should have 1 to 2 images to enhance your blog/article. Blog/article topic must be chosen from the list of options (see below) and provide useful, accurate and relevant information relating back to our course content. Quantity: By the end of your project, you should have 8 separate blogs; one for each stage of development, on “your” page. Frequency: It is best to work on these each week as we cover these topics. Also, there are bonus points available for students who complete their corresponding blog before the module on that developmental stage ends. Blog 1. What to expect from your first trimester, second trimester or third semester. Blog 2. What are the differences between proximal and distal parenting? And what pattern enforces which types of behaviors? Blog 3. What is the difference between intrinsic and extrinsic motivation? Which is better? Which has more power with young children? Blog 4. How does poverty or low socioeconomic status (SES) contribute to a child’s ability to learn and develop language? Blog 5. What are the mental health risks to adolescents and young adults who use social media frequently? Blog 6. Why might grandparents, parents and (grand) children differ in their perceptions of grandparent-grandchild relationships? Blog 7. What are some of the things we can do to improve brain health and lower the risks and/or symptoms of Alzheimer’s? How can an individual protect themselves? Blog 8. How is the grieving process impacted because of the relationship with the deceased? What factors are involved with complicated and disenfranchised grief? How do these factors make grieving more difficult?
