write a paper (typed, double-spaced, of ibliography cited in paper) on the passages from the Bible below passages. The paper is to incorporate, as relevant, the components of biblical exegesis. The level of research must be studious, but presented in language understandable to the unstudied Christian adult layperson. The paper should consist of three parts: (1) a recording of the passages (from a standard translation); (2) an introduction that briefly explains the importance and significance of the passages, its main difficulties, and its setting within its larger literary context; (3) a verse-by-verse analysis that (a) identifies the main interpretive issues and important words and concepts of each verse and overviews scholarly discussion and options of interpretation pertaining to these issues; (b) evaluates and offers opinion on the best understanding of these issues, including the meaning of individual words/concepts, cultural practices, etc.; (c) analyzes verses and key expressions according to the broader context and usage elsewhere in the Bible, provides a range of possible meaning for thorny issues and words/concepts, and defends the best meaning in the present passage, drawing also from back-ground, concept, and structure studies as aids discussion; (4) a statement on several theological and practical insights of value about God/Jesus Christ on the basis of clarification of passage’s meaning from this verse-by-verse analysis and any practical applications on basis of these insights; (5) a summary of the overall meaning and intent of the passage and key findings. Students should interact with at least 6 commentaries. Passages from the Bible 1 Peter 5:8 Philippians 3:13-14 Ephesians 6:11, 14-17 The overall theme of the paper should center on how Christians must put on the armor that Jesus has given them in order to defend against the evils of Satan (i.e., the armor to defend against how he attacks our mind, body and spirit). The paper must be in turabian format with footnotes. The sources must be scholarly.
