Write a History on “International organisations under the leadership of the United Nations are a more successful system of international collaboration than Empires ever were.” To what extent do you agree with this claim? Write an essay that answers this question. It should be between 800 and 1000 words long. The essay should be focussed on the question throughout: how far do you agree with the statement? Completely? Not at all? Or both (yes and no) depending on the situation? Think about the key concept of Systems and the global context of Globalisation (and Sustainability). The most important historical concept is Perspectives: you should include different viewpoints on why international organisations are good and bad, and why empires may have positive as well as the obvious negative characteristics. A good structure for this essay is: introduction (include your line of argument and outline the structure of the essay), three paragraphs (each makes a point to answer the question), a conclusion (that summarises the essay and gives an overall answer). Remember that PEEL paragraphs with the following outline are usually successful – I am attaching a template for an essay plan that you should use to prepare your work. Point – How does the paragraph contribute to answering the question? Evidence – What detailed evidence will you use to support your point? Explanation – How does the evidence support your point?
